On January 18th, the Graduate School of Governance and the East Asian Collaboration Center of Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) held the entrance ceremony of the 2023 Global Environmental Leaders Program (GELP) domestic curriculum in the 600th Anniversary Hall. GELP is a program organized by the Ministry of Environment and Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco) to provide specialized education and global leadership to students who wish to become global environment experts. Yoon Young-bong, the Department Manager of Global Strategy Group, Professor Kwon Gi-heon of the Graduate School of Governance, 41 students, and ore participated in the event. Prof. Kwon gave a welcome address, saying, “As a university with skillful staff and great facilities, SKKU will do its best to foster students as global environmental experts.” The event was followed by the congratulatory speech of Manager Yoon, who mentioned, “The Ministry of Environment and K-eco has been supporting and organizing GELP for 15 years. The program produced numerous outstanding individuals throughout the years, and we hope students this year will grow as global leaders as well.” This year, the domestic curriculum for GELP was carried out at SKKU for four weeks, a total of 100 hours. Students who complete the program with high academic performance will be given an internship in international organizations such as the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
