On February 20th, the government revealed plans to develop and routinize daily Artificial Intelligence (AI) services through the New Growth 4.0 Strategy during the Emergency Ministerial Meeting on Economic Affairs. The detailed plan of the Nationwide AI Routinization Project will be released this June, and the project will proceed in earnest from next year. The project discusses the development of various AI robots, such as nurse robots for single elderly households and robots that help small business owners with reservations and purchases. Furthermore, the government will promote Smart Logistics, a digital logistics industry that uses AI robots and drones. Likewise, the government will revise the policy to establish Micro Fulfillment Centers (MFC). MFC is a system that reduces delivery time across the country to about 30 to 60 minutes, by quickly forecasting demands and immediately delivering products. The government plans to revise the current law to allow the establishment of MFC in second-class neighborhood convenience facilities, with a size of approximately 500㎡. Regarding the strategy, Choo Kyung-ho, Deputy Prime Minister of the MOEF, said, “We will not only promote various projects like smart logistics but also utilize capabilities and resources of private enterprises to show visible results.”
