On May 3rd, the inauguration ceremony of the startup business support cluster of Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) was held at the Natural Science Campus (NSC) Samsung Library Auditorium. President Yoo Ji-beom, executive director Joo Yeong-soo, and several other venture capital representatives attended the inauguration to support 102 newly appointed representatives. The Ministry of Small and Midsize Enterprises (SMEs) and Startups designated the startup-oriented business for universities that have outstanding support systems for startups. The project aims to serve as a hub that revitalizes and supports universities and local enterprises. Currently, nine universities nationwide are designated for the project. The business support cluster is expected to cost \76.2 billion, and SKKU has secured approximately \10 billion this year and will carry out the project every year until 2027. In the ceremony, President Yoo Ji-beom emphasized that SKKU would continue thriving towards becoming the center of Korea’s startup enterprises to create a cooperative structure in which universities, countries, and startup businesses share a fruitful success.
