With a year and a half left until the 2024 United States (U.S.) Presidential Election, its matchup is forming slowly, with multiple politicians announcing their bids. On April 25th, current U.S. President Joe Biden announced his reelection campaign, along with Vice President Kamala Harris. However, voices of concern grow for President Biden’s health, as he was already the oldest president in history when he first took office in 2021. Another notable candidate from the Democratic Party is Robert Kennedy Jr. the nephew of former president John F. Kennedy. From the Republican Party, former President Donald J. Trump announced his bid for 2024 after his re-election campaign failed in 2020. It is the first time since the 19th century that a president, who failed in their re-election campaign, is running again. Meanwhile, the public’s interest in the election has arisen due to the high possibility of a face-off between an incumbent and a former president. Although Biden defeated the former-incumbent Trump in 2020, the outcome of the 2024 election is uncertain as disapproval ratings of the Biden administration are rising. Additionally, changes to the electoral colleges have been made, further intensifying the matchup. Due to population drops in Northeast Democratic voting states and the rust belt, Republican voting states in the South have gained more polls. With such bids between powerful politicians and changes in the electoral colleges, the uncertainty on the result of the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election is intensifying.
