The National Research Foundation of Korea evaluates and qualifies registered journals every year to improve their quality and revitalize the sharing of research results. If a journal is included in the National Research Foundation, its authority is appreciated as an expert journal in relevant fields. In this regard, Journal of Governance Studies is the first journal to become registered within the subject of governance. The Journal of Governance Studies began publication by the Graduate School of Governance in 2006 and has released its 11th issue this year. It contains more than 170 research papers, and has published social sciences theses since 2006. The Journal of Governance Studies was first selected as a candidate of the National Research Foundation of Korea in 2010 and it finally became a registered journal on August 2, 2016, after being subjected to a strict reviewing process. According to the National Research Foundation of Korea, the Journal of Governance Studies tried to remain consistent throughout publications, and highlighted its academic characteristic by securing research areas. Moreover, it has high professionalism because its editorial boards were active in their academic activities and achieved high degrees of academic performances. Their activities were based on the rigor of research ethics, and they thus contributed to ensuring the qualification as a registered journal. Editing commissions said that “there were many renowned people graduated from SKKU’s Department of Administration, but it was the first time that our department became known for having an academic journal with great expertise. We are going to make steady efforts to gain recognition.”
