Q1. Please introduce yourself.

Hello! My name is Lǐxīn Lín, and I am from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. I am a junior at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), and my major is Economics. I began studying Korean at Sungkyun Language Institute (SLI) in the late summer of 2019 and officially entered SKKU in 2021.

Q2. Why did you choose Korea and SKKU?

I chose to study in Korea because of my interest in Korean culture. I have enjoyed listening to K-pop and watching Korean TV series since middle school. I learned Korean by myself through them even before studying at the Korean Language Center of SLI. In contrast to other universities’ language schools, SLI offers a full-time class. Hence, a semester only needs two months here, which is one month less than in other language schools. Despite the short semester on campus, my affection for SKKU grew steadily throughout my studies due to the beautiful campus view. Also, SKKU has a profound historical and cultural heritage that attaches great importance to Confucian education. All of these factors have made me feel that SKKU is an attractive place, and I am very satisfied with being a Kingo nowadays.

Q3. How is your life at SKKU?

Every day at SKKU is fulfilling. I spend a lot of time finishing my schoolwork because I feel a sense of achievement by striving to get good grades. However, my life at SKKU is not confined to academics, since SKKU has various festivals and extracurricular activities every semester. The university festival invites many famous artists, which is exciting to me. All these experiences enrich my study life abroad.

Q4. What experience at SKKU inspired you the most, and what did you learn from it?

I think every student at SKKU works very hard, both in their academic pursuits and daily lives. What impressed me the most was when many people were still studying in the library study room until 2 a.m. during the final exam week, even though it was already late at night. This memory has inspired me to be more focused on my studies and encouraged me to plan for my future career.
