Q1. Please introduce yourself.
Hello! I am Lida, a 23-year-old from Finland. I studied in a city called Tampere, the third biggest city in Finland, and my major is Public Administration. I finished my bachelor’s thesis last spring and started my master’s degree at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU).
Q2. Why did you choose Korea and SKKU?
I juggled with a lot of different countries before I decided on Korea. I only knew that I wanted to go far away from Europe since it is quite easy to travel within Europe. I love traveling and had never been to East Asia, so coming to Korea felt natural. It was important for me to experience a completely new culture during my exchange. When deciding on which university to attend, I had the option to choose from five different schools in Seoul. In the beginning, it felt like mission impossible to choose between these schools, but I ended up choosing SKKU as my first option. I thought SKKU had nice courses to offer, and it seemed there were a lot of international students.
Q3. How is your life at SKKU?
My time at SKKU has been amazing. Since I took fewer courses than I would have in Finland, studying has been quite chilled, and I have had a lot of free time as well. I live in the I-House, which is the closest dormitory to the campus. I love it since it is only a five-minute walk to the International Hall. I know for sure that I will be thinking about lunch in the Business School and studying in the International Hall café while sipping on an iced vanilla latte with fondness for the rest of my life.
Q4. What growth do you want to achieve at SKKU?
I am looking forward to learning about Korean culture through my studies at SKKU. I think I have already learned a lot so far, but I am still eager to learn more. I hope to be prepared to study for my master’s degree in Finland after my time at SKKU. After my exchange, I feel this experience at SKKU would help me view the world more broadly
