Return to the Innocence of Childhood

Our rational minds are busy planning for the upcoming days, but some special days in May unlatch memories of our childhoods and invite us to take a walk down memory lane. May is also known as Family Month, mostly because of Children’s Day on the 5th with other celebrations like Parents’ and Teachers’ Days. Many Kingos might have spent these days with presents and endless smiles when they were little kids. I also remember the day I got a piece of sheet music as a present and said I would become a pianist in the future. At that time, even I dreamed of becoming an unrealistic being for a moment.

Although some childhood memories seem absurdly innocent and hilarious when thinking back, I live in the present based on those memories and experiences. Even after growing up, my mind sometimes drifts back to the innocence of childhood around Children’s Day. This replenishes my weary soul with joy and drives me to pursue my dreams with the hope that I will ultimately overcome my growing anxiety like a child who is not afraid of the future. In today’s society, there are many people struggling in the darkness or getting upset and depressed because of an uncertain future. I feel it would be good for them to take a step back from their exhausting realities and recover the innocence of childhood to replenish their energy. Pulling out old picture albums and looking back on the joys of childhood may restore energy for the upcoming days.
