On April 25th, a 22-year-old man, Son Jung-min, who was a student of the Department of Medicine at Chung-Ang University, went missing at the Han River. After six days of searching, he was finally found dead in the river. On the day he disappeared, it was discovered that he had been drinking with his friend at the Banpo Han River Park. Son’s father claimed some suspicious points of his death in his blogs and interviewed with the press. On May 3rd, an article claiming for the truth of the missing student, Mr. Son, was uploaded on the online national petition boards, and it got more than 300,000 consent signatures in two days. The reason why there are loud voices trying to find out the truth is that, even though this disappearance occurred at the Han River, which has a large floating population, the investigation made little progress because there was no CCTV in the park. So, the police traced back the route of the friend through by his taxi payment details and the driver’s statements on the day Son disappeared. The police are also trying to find dashcam recordings from the cars that were nearby the Banpo Han River Park. However, even though the friend is not an indisputable suspect, so many people beg the question that the friend is the criminal and have even disclosed his personal information. Such actions need caution because the case is not concluded yet, and there is still a possibility of an accident.
