Introduction

The official English magazine of Sungkyunkwan University, The Sungkyun Times, was founded in 1970. Several students who were interested in English university newspapers wrote a proposal to the school authorities and, The Sungkyun Times was first published as the official English newspaper of Sungkyunkwan University on June 15th, 1970. Early on, it was published in newspaper form, but in 1993 was transformed into a magazine. Now, our monthly color magazine constitutes 40 pages, and it is published targeting students, professors, faculty members and alumni that have made bonds with Sungkyunkwan University. Leading global culture on campus, it is distributed to sister schools and also available at the international library in order to inform about Sungkyunkwan University and Korean culture at home and abroad. The Sungkyun Times is dedicated to delivering interesting content in English from various fields including university and on campus news, social issues, cultural and academic subjects. The magazine is full of diverse and fascinating topics like stories about the universities’ societies including Sungkyunkwan University, in-depth analysis of social topics, hot issues and cultural subjects that can be easily accessible to students. Moreover, with the unique charm of the magazine and the broad-mindedness to embrace exchange students and international students, we endeavor to be well acquainted with all Sungkyunkwan University students. You can meet The Sungkyun Times at the beginning of every month during the spring and fall semesters.
