On July 8th, the 23rd Ottogi Ham Tae-ho Academic Award Ceremony was held at the Daejeon Convention Center. Since its establishment in 1996, the Ottogi Ham Tae-ho Foundation has conducted various academic promotions and scholarship projects. Annually, it gives awards to food-related professors and researchers who have contributed to the development of the food industry and improved human dietary habits, and it is given through the Korean Society of Food Science and Technology and the Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition. Until last year, 22 people received the award, and Professor Lee Jae-hwan from the Department of Food Science and Biotechnology received the award this year. Prof. Lee has been devoting himself to research for over 20 years, especially in the field of food chemistry. He published over 170 academic journals and applied for six patents over 20 years. Moreover, two patents have been registered, and he has secured property rights for these. He also leaves many achievements in domestic and foreign academic and industrial fields. These efforts were recognized as a significant contribution to cost reduction in the food industry and the production of high-quality oil-treated products. For the prize, Park Ki-moon, the director of the foundation, presented him with a plaque and 30 million won.
