What do you think when you hear the word “mistake”? Throughout our life, we make lots of mistakes. In fact, making a mistake is unavoidable as every person is not perfect from the beginning. What we should keep our eyes on is how we are affected by the mistakes we have made. Whenever we make a mistake, it seems that most of us blame ourselves and lose confidence for a long time, and I am not the exception.
Recently, I got to know the song My Sea by IU, and the lyrics of the song made me look back on my life. In the song, the singer sings about her inner child who was not completely ready to love herself and didn’t know how valuable she is as a person. After hearing this song several times, I realized that the lyrics are reflecting my life, too. Until now, I endlessly thought that I am poor at all things, and I hated myself very much after making mistakes. However, what this only does is make me struggle in more difficult situations, not being able to find proper solutions.
The song finishes with the cheers and confidence that the singer gives to her inner child. The singer reassures that everything will be okay and advise the inner child to explore bigger things. This led me to realize the importance of accepting myself the way I am and not being continuously intimidated by mistakes. There will be certain ways that our mistakes can be corrected, and the most important thing is not to make the same mistake again. From now on, how about loving and encouraging ourselves more rather than blaming ourselves too much for mistakes?
