Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) invites domestic and foreign scholars to hold Sungkyun Myeongnyun Lectures named “Lighting up the World,” a series of special lectures that diagnose Korean society in 2022. The lectures will share issues in various fields from a global perspective. Starting from this semester, it aims to enhance students’ global capabilities by inviting professors from renowned universities. The first lecture, “Our Intelligence, in SKKU,” was held on March 17th by Kim Joon-young, the Chairman of SKKU. He is a representative macroeconomist in Korea, currently serving as an Honorary Professor of Economics at SKKU and Chairman of the Educational Foundation SKKU. The second lecture, “History of Economic Inequality: Past, Present, and Future,” will be held on April 13th by Professor Walter Scheidel of Stanford University. The third lecture, “Robot, Prosperity, and Inequality,” will be held on April 21st by Professor David N. Weil of Brown University. On April 29th, Professor Robert Erikson of Columbia University will hold a lecture on “Political Polarization.” The last lecture, “Origin of Thinking and Morality,” will be given by Professor Michael Tomasello of Duke University. Every lecture will be held offline and online at the Virtual Live Studio on the second floor of the Business School on the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus.
