Q1. Please introduce yourself.
Hello, I am Baasandorj Anujin, a 25-year-old Mongolian student majoring in Media and Communication. I enrolled in the College of Social Sciences at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in 2019. I recently became interested in photography after visiting my beautiful hometown in Mongolia. I am sure Kingos will also be astonished by Mongolia’s vast landscape and the starry night sky.
Q2. Why did you choose Korea?
I usually feel like giving up when I first learn a foreign language. However, I never felt that way when learning Korean. I would read a Korean book out loud and correct my pronunciation through watching videos even though I could not understand the exact meaning of the words. Recently, the number of Korean learners has been growing due to the popularity of K-pop and K-dramas. Maybe one day, Korean could become one of the most widely used languages worldwide after English. As such, my interest in the Korean language led to an attraction to the country Korea, which finally led me to apply to a Korean university.
Q3. Why did you choose SKKU?
Being accepted into SKKU was one of the most unforgettable moments in my life. The long history and stories of over 600 years caught my attention. Most of all, I hoped to learn and grow through studying alongside SKKU’s enthusiastic faculty members and outstanding students. So far, I am pretty satisfied!
Q4. How is your life at SKKU?
When I entered SKKU, I felt both thrilled and panicked. I remember being unfamiliar with not having a specific major when I was a freshman. After I chose to major in Media and Communication, I hoped to enjoy campus life and make Korean friends. However, I felt disappointed when the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic forced me to stay indoors. As I did not want to have any regrets before graduation, I applied to the Media and Communication student council and have been a part of it for two years. I even won prizes with my friends in various contests, and also participated in MAUMDAMGI, a video production student association. Nevertheless, I never forgot to devote myself to studying. When it comes to exam periods, I usually head to the library or a study room to pull an all-nighter. As a result of my great exertion to campus life and academics, I have received many scholarships as well. Though my life at SKKU is pretty busy, I have found it to be meaningful.
