Q1. Please introduce yourself.
Hello, my name is Nathalia Correa, and I am a 22-year-old Colombian student studying Economics at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU). I come from Cali, the central urban and economic center in the south of Colombia. This city is famous for its beautiful landscapes, the Latin dance of Salsa, and delicious coffee.
Q2. Why did you choose Korea?
Since I was little, I have always wanted to study abroad; I wanted to study at a distinguished university that would provide me with everything I needed to become an excellent professional. As an Economics major, I believed Korea was the perfect place to learn everything about this field of study. Korea used to be one of the poorest countries, going through severe economic difficulties after the war. Still, it ultimately became one of the most developed countries in the world: the Miracle on the Han River. Thus, I want to learn more about Korea’s well-ordered economic system. I hope to apply my studies and experiences in Korea to my own country someday.
Q3. Why did you choose SKKU?
I chose SKKU because it is one of the best universities in Korea. When looking through Korean universities, I saw that SKKU has been rising in global rankings and has high student satisfaction. I also liked that it is the oldest university in the country. Seonggyungwan was the best educational institution during the Joseon Dynasty, and the current SKKU is a university that has inherited its spirit. The modern architecture, mixed with the traditional Korean style, also caught my eye. I was especially fascinated by how the Seonggyungwan buildings are still preserved inside the campus.
Q4. How is your life at SKKU?
My life at SKKU has been great so far. Since the pandemic curbs have lifted, I have only recently begun to take classes offline. As a result, I have made many new friends. I am a member of SKKU’s Women’s Football Club (WFC) Yeowoorak, which has been one of the best experiences so far; I have gotten to know several amazing people. During my spare time, I hang out around Hyehwa. I often grab a meal at a well-known restaurant, then visit a café with my friends. I am having an amazing time nowadays, and I hope this continues until I graduate.
