Eunhaeng-gol, a restaurant in the 600th Anniversary Building, managed three corners (fried rice, pork cutlet, Korean stew) at a price of 3,000 ~5,000 before. However, it now operates four different corners in the form of a food court that provides various different kinds of food such as Bomionsoban (Korean food), Xingfuchina (Chinese food), Gatsann (Last February, the school cafeterias Eunhaeng-gol and Ongnyucheon on the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus as well as the Faculty’s dining hall on the Natural Sciences Campus, were remodeled by Samsung Welstory.Japanese food), and Pop-up-deli (snack). A professional cook directly cooks the main menu items of each corner, which provides students with fresh and warm food. In addition to these four corners, Domino Pizza, Subway, and Café Coffee& have also set up on the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus.
Samsung Welstory decided to undergo the remodeling of Eunhaeng-gol because they felt that the food service of the cafeteria was banal and ordinary, and it was too similar to a normal institutional food service. Even though they worked hard to improve the services, they felt that there were limitations. Therefore, they were determined to depart from the standard pattern, visited external enterprises including other universities to benchmark them, and finally set about on a three-month construction project. They focused on stressing specialties by considering human resources, food ingredients, and environmental improvements.
Now, Eunhang-gol has changed into a trendy restaurant where students can enjoy their meals. The number of workers has doubled, and the space itself has becomes a comfortable place to relax, making students stay longer, even after having their meal. Even though the fixed menus do not change day by day, it also offers a chef day event at dinner times every Wednesday, to add and change menus consistently.
The dietitian at Eunhang-gol said that “We are working even harder to provide better service and trendy menus to students. I hope many students will enjoy a nice meal at Eunhang-gol.”
Ongnyucheon on the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus and the Faculty’s dining hall on the Natural Sciences Campus offered Korean and Western meal services before. After remodeling; however, they adopted a one-dish meal which will be changed according to the customers’ taste, and course meals that consist of Korean, Chinese, Western, and many different countries’ dishes. The price of the former is from 8,000 to 12,000, and the price of the dish now depends on the types of dishes that are much improved compared to those of last semester.
This is because it recruited some managers for course meals and made a more luxurious and cozy atmosphere, offering a 100% table service. In addition, there is a private dining room, which can be used as a place for a banquet or a seminar, so that people including professors can enjoy a buffet, VIP courses, or refreshments during omit many school events. The Café Coffee& that was opened on the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus is also going to open in April on the Natural Sciences Campus. Additionally, the Faculty’s dining hall on the Natural Sciences Campus is planning to provide lunch box services for professors.
The kitchen of Ongnyuchun became larger in order to improve the quality of food and the number of seats were decreased for service through the remodeling. They not only improved the dignity of professors’ welfare space but also provided a place that everyone can be treated well in. After an arrangement with the school, they stopped students entering from between 12 to 1pm to guarantee a professors’ meal time since there are some situations where professors should go back to their offices because of students. Ongnyuchun, however, can be a place to host somebody with care on a special day, so they are doing their best to let students visit by planning couple’s menus or family menus.
