Dr. Kim Joo-won and Dr. Jung Sang-hyun of the Department of Construction and Environmental Engineering were selected for the 2017 Presidential PostDoctoral Project along with Dr. Lee Sangah of the Department of Medicine. The ‘Presidential PostDoctoral Fellowship’ is a project established by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Research Foundation to foster highachieving scientists. For the purpose of maintaining research activities and inducing qualitative improvement, researchers selected for this project are granted about 130 million for a five year period. Considering that about 10 researchers are chosen annually for this fellowship, three being chosen was a remarkable achievement that showed SKKU’s research power.
The research topics of SKKU’s candidates were “Expert Diagnosis System for Evaluating AI Cable Based on Total Flux and MFL (Dr. Kim Joo-won)”, “Integrated Control of Algae and Microbial Contamination Using Optical Film Contamination Sensing Technology (Dr. Jung Sang-hyun),” and “Study on the Treatment of Metabolic Diseases through Regulation of the Microenvironment of Fat Cells based on Epigenetics (Dr. Lee Sang-ah).” These three researchers will receive governmental support in their studies for the next five years. In addition, the three professors who guided the three post-doctoral researchers were selected for a national project worth 1.5 billion per person as well.
