A fund - raising campaign for support of school meals for Kingos has been successfully on-going since July, 2017. The campaign was first started to support students who have difficulty affording proper meals because of studying or working a part-time job. Ever since the campaign began to raise money from SKKU alumni, more than 300 alumni have donated about 160 million in total. The contributions are being used in four cafeterias, Eunhaeng- gol and the Golden Lawn Cafeteria on the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus, and the cafeterias of the Student Center and the Engineering Building on the Natural Sciences Campus. Thanks to the donations, undergraduates can have breakfast in these cafeterias for 1,000 every morning, from 8:10 to 9:00. Yeon Eui-Heum, an alumnus of the Department of English Language and Literature, who also donated, said, “I used to skip breakfast when I was an undergraduate because I could not afford it. I heard ma ny students still have difficulty studying and working part - time jobs together these days, so I was worried that they would skip meals like I did before. I hope many Kingos will be able to concentrate on their duties, not worrying about financial problems, and enjoy their tasty breakfast instead.” SKKU students are delighted to have breakfast with the alumni’s help as well. Do Bo-Rim, an undergraduate of the School of Global Leader, said, “Ever since this campaign started, I started to have breakfast more often because it is only 1,000. I could see many more students have breakfast early in the morning. I am so grateful to the alumni who willingly donated to the SKKU students. I hope this kind of campaign will be more active and thus, more students can have breakfast in the morning.”
