October is a month when Kingos get busier studying for the midterms. Since getting good grades is very important to most Kingos, exams can be a stress and burden to them. Therefore, the Sungkyun Times (SKT) asked some Kingos about their special experiences from previous exam periods.
Amy (Senior, Psychology)
Last semester, as I forgot the final examination date, I had no time to study for the subject. I worried a lot but finally got a grade B. It made me feel so good even though I did not put a lot of effort in it.
Lee Gyu-yeon (Junior, Chemical Engineering )
I fought with my girlfriend during the exam period, and could not concentrate on my studies. Fortunately, we could talk again and clear the air. We resolved our misunderstanding before the end of the exam period, so I could study hard for my exams again. Therefore, I got happy results both in my relationship with my girlfriend and in my grade. I felt proud of myself as well.
Joo Hyo-rim (Sophomore, Korean Literature in Classical Chinese)
When I was a freshman, I took a course about an introduction to economics. The course, however, was not interesting to me. Therefore, I did not study for the test; I did not even read through the book once and went to the classroom to take the exam like that. As a result, I got a perfect zero credit score.
Kim Dae-han (Junior, English Language and Literature)
When I was taking exams as a high school student, my school teacher asked the class if the questions on the exam were all correct. Although her job was teaching students as a teacher, she could not even solve the chemistry questions at high school level. She even needed help from a few of my friends who were good at chemistry to make sure the answers were correct.
Ryu Se-yeong (Junior, Film, Television, and Multimedia)
I worked at the biggest cafeteria in SKKU last year. When the exam period was coming, most Kingos started to drink a lot of coffee, probably twice more than the average period. Even though I was taking my time off from the university, I was not happy during that period. I really wished that the exam period just passed quickly. In particular, on the weekends when there were i-Campus exams, only two people had to take the order from Kingos. It was a total nightmare.
Lindsay Jones (Senior, English Language and Literature)
When I was taking a class at the American musical theatre, the teaching assistant did not come in to give us our exam papers. My classmates and I waited for the whole hour, but he never came! In the end, we had to take a makeup exam later and the entire course schedule was delayed.
Kang Hyo-rim (Junior, Sports Science)
I was studying in the school library to prepare for the exam. Suddenly, I did not want to study and therefore, I went to a coin karaoke with my friends. After I sang a lot of songs for three hours, I could not study anymore. When I went back to the library to get my backpack back, it was 3 a.m. Thanks to the removal of the dormitory curfew, I could enjoy my time a little more by getting into the dormitory late.
Yoon Sung-hee (Junior, English Language and Literature)
Last year, I went to the rooftop of the Law School because I like strolling alone. When I was looking down at the scenery of Hyehwa-dong, a police officer came to me. He asked me if I had any problems, and I asked the reason why he asked that to me. Then he told me that a student had called the police to say that she would jump from between the Suseon Hall and the Law School a few days ago, so police officers were standing by just in case. He misunderstood the reason why I was on the rooftop and asked if I was okay. I was surprised to hear that story.
Oh In-je (Sophomore, Physics)
When I was a freshman, the Olympic Games were on while I was taking my final exams. I watched soccer games before sleeping late at night. As a result of such a sleeping schedule, I woke up at around lunch time and then started to play games. I immersed myself in playing games so much that I almost forgot that the exam was about to start in half an hour. Even my friend was still sleeping, so I had to wake him up and head for the classroom to take the exam.
Cho Ye-jin (Sophomore, English Language and Literature)
When I was studying hard in a reading room during the exam period, one student gave me a letter and a cup of iced tea. The student wrote that he had watched me studying hard and was impressed by how hard I was studying. The student wrote to me to cheer me up and keep studying hard. It was the first time that I had received a letter from a stranger, so I was a bit shy but encouraged to read those words.
