The 2016 Festival “ESKARA” was held from May 11 to 13 at the Natural Sciences Campus, and from May 17 to 19 at the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus. Unlike last year, both campuses held their own festivals on different dates. Furthermore, on the last day of the festival at the Natural Sciences Campus, the Foreign Students Culture Festival was hosted in collaboration with the Suwon City Council.
Despite several successes, there were problems with the festival. There were too many people coming to Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) from outside, and this generated problems for some SKKU students who were trying to enjoy the festival. Due to the overwhelming crowd and its increased excitement, there were several injuries as well.
Last year, there were complaints that combining festivals was meaningless because both campuses ultimately also held their own smaller festivals, and the collaboration did not work well. The student council S-Wing explained that the festivals were separated so that the characteristics of each campus could be reflected through the festival. The dates of the festivals were split between the campuses so that students could enjoy the festival mood for two weeks.
