Starting next semester, the “Initiative for College of Humanities Research and Education” (CORE) Project is expected to open for SKKU students. This project aims to revive the present status of humanities in universities and respond to the need for more humanities education in our current society.
SKKU will offer four different tracks for students: Yeonam, Toegye, Dasan, and Yulgok.
The Yeonam track aims to educate students to be global local experts, and many foreign language majors such as French Language and Literature, German Language and Literature, and Russian Language and Literature will follow this track. There will also be changes in class lectures to fit into the assigned track. The Toegye track seeks to educate students with more intensive courses. Majors such as Korean Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Chinese Language and Literature, History, Philosophy, and Korean Literature in Classical Chinese are included in this track. The Dasan track aims to educate students on the basis of humanities, and students can expect to see a fusion between different humanities majors and other majors in social sciences. Finally, the Yulgok track seeks to create an environment to take classical studies so that students majoring in non-humanities subjects can also receive a humanities education. Furthermore, in this track, a “Sungkyun Humanities Incubator” program will be designed for freshmen and sophomores.
Additionally, for students who plan to continue their studies after receiving a bachelor’s degree, there will be scholarships available.
