Sungkyunkwan University has formed the SKKU Technology Innovation Advisory Group which consists of professors in hightech fields to support companies in trouble due to Japan’s export restrictions. Taking full advantage of the university’s research and development (R&D) achievement, this advisory group will support the technology and equipment that companies need and help to solve various difficulties. It is expected that small and medium-sized businesses will become independent in terms of technology and can strengthen their global competitiveness. Song Sung-jin, vice president of the Natural Sciences Campus will lead this advisory group with the Corporate Innovation Growth Support Center and Regional Coexistence Development Promotion Center. Professors take on seven fields: semiconductor and display, high-tech components and materials, Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Factory, automobile and machinery, medicine manufacture and bio, artificial intelligence (AI), and electronics. Moreover, the related research laboratory and centers support technologies directly to the companies. It works as follows: first, after receiving applications from a company that needs support, the advisory group checks the company’s requirements and connects the company with an advisory faculty, then suggests a consulting solution. Besides technical and management advice, the advisory group will operate technical development tasks and discuss this with the companies.
