The White House is delaying the decision to relax a ban on Huawei, the Chinese communication technology company, according to a new report on August 8t h. This regulation is different from the one in May, which states a ban on transactions with United States (US) companies by blacklisting Huawei. The US President Donald Trump and the Chinese President Xi Jinping settled the sanctions relief of Huawei last June. However, as the Chinese government announced an import suspension on US agricultural products, the White House changed its decision.
This provisional regulation took effect from August 13th and will be settled as a final rule after collecting feedback for 60 days. The law restricts the US government agency from using the federal fund for purchasing communications equipment, services and surveillance equipment from several Chinese companies. Banned companies include Huawei, Zhongxing Telecommunication Equipment Corporation (ZTE), Hikvision, HiTEL, and Dahwa. Regarding the issue, the Chinese government expressed severe opposition and discontent by stating that the ban on the purchase of the US is an unfair practice.
