With the beginning of the new semester, a portfolio system called Challenge Square was launched. This is an all-around computerized system that integrates and manages the outcomes of students’ academic and extracurricular activities throughout their entire college lives. Various data such as club activities, volunteering, scholarship, international exchange activities, and mentoring can be recorded. The school plans to support students’ successful college lives and future careers by analyzing key factors of student success. Through this system, students can manage their academic outcomes and review their competitiveness by comparing them with those of other students. It provides a comparative status of their extracurricular activities among the students in the same major or grade. In addition, they can prepare for their careers more precisely by checking the grade point average (GPA) or school activities of those who were employed in the job field of their interests. Plus, they can self-diagnose the possibility of receiving a scholarship in advance. As students can identify their strengths and weaknesses by using these functions, they can establish the personal career roadmaps that fit their personal needs. Kim Dong-wook, head of the Office of School Affairs, mentioned, “Until now, academic activities such as grades were usually the main focus of student data. Challenge Square will additionally manage extracurricular activities and establish a database that spans the entire term of college life to support students’ futures.”
