Professor Kim Duk-joon of the Department of Chemical Engineering was selected as the 2020 winner of the“Hanhwa Polymer Academic Award” organized by the Polymer Society of Korea and designated by HanwhaTotal. Hanwha Total awarded a plaque and a prize of 10 million won to Prof. Kim, who was selected as the winner of the 2020 Hanwha Polymer Academic Award at the “2020 Korea Polymer Society Autumn Conference” held at the Busan Convention Center on October 6th. Prof. Kim won the Hanwha Polymer Academic Award for his contribution to the commercialization of fuel cells through his research on high ion conductivity and the manufacture of high molecular electrolyte membranes with long-term stability. Hanwha Total established the Hanwha Polymer Academic Award in 2005 for the development of polymer science, which is the basis of the petrochemical industry’s technology. Through this, Hanhwa Total selects a scientist who has contributed to the development of polymer science in Korea with outstanding research accomplishments and supports 10 million wonin research funds. Prof. Kim said, “The battery-related polymer materials have a great ripple effect not only in the development of academia but also in the economic aspect, so I have been working with pride and duty,” and added, “I will continue to dedicate myself on research to achieve good results to help academic and industrial development.”
