The Nobel Prize Winner of 2020 was released last October. These scientists were nominated as the Nobel Prize winners for their discovery of the hepatitis C virus, which is a major cause of liver diseases. Thanks to their discovery, humankind can now fight against liver cancer and hepatocirrhosis. On October 6th, the Nobel Committee announced the Nobel Prize in Physics. Three scientists, Roger Penrose, Andrea Ghez, and Reinhard Genzel were awarded the prize. These scientists contributed to the field of physics by advancing our knowledge of black holes. They discovered the existence of a massive black hole in our galaxy. On October 8th, the Nobel Committee announced the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, and it was awarded to Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna. Two female scientists contributed to advancing the method for genome editing. Charpentier and Doudna discovered a new gene editing tool, CRISPR/Cas9 genetic scissors, and this discovery greatly developed the field of gene-editing. On October 8th, the honor of the Nobel Prize for Literature went to an American poet, Louise Gluck. Louise Gluck won her Nobel Prize for her clear poetic voice that transcends individual existence to the universal existence. On October 9th, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the World Food Program (WFP). The Nobel Committee announced that the best vaccine before the coronavirus vaccine was the famine maneuver from the WFP. On October 12th, the Nobel Prize for Economics was awarded to Paul Wilgrum and Robert Wilson. They were awarded for their contribution to improving the auction theory and inventing a new theory that can benefit sellers, buyers, and taxpayers all over the world.
