They discovered the existence of a massive black hole in our galaxy. On October 8th, the Nobel Committee announced the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, and it was awarded to Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna. Two female scientists contributed to advancing the method for genome editing. Charpentier and Doudna discovered a new gene editing tool, CRISPR/Cas9 genetic scissors, and this discovery greatly developed the field of gene-editing. On October 8th, the honor of the Nobel Prize for Literature went to an American poet, Louise Gluck. Louise Gluck won her Nobel Prize for her clear poetic voice that transcends individual existence to the universal existence. On October 9th, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the World Food Program (WFP). The Nobel Committee announced that the best vaccine before the coronavirus vaccine was the famine maneuver from the WFP. On October 12th, the Nobel Prize for Economics was awarded to Paul Wilgrum and Robert Wilson.
