Lee In-seok, chief executive officer (CEO) of Bavarian Motors and a Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) graduate from the Department of Chemistry, has donated \200 million to the school’s development fund. The donation was handed from CEO Lee to SKKU President Yoo Ji-beom on January 20th at Songdo City, where the headquarters of Bavarian Motors is located. Bavarian Motors is the official dealer of Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) and has shown remarkable growth, even joining the \1 trillion club in 2023. Previous to the current donation, CEO Lee also contributed to various university funds, such as the Sungkyun Nobel Prize Fund, the Sungkyun Global Center Construction Fund, and the Department of Chemistry’s 60th Anniversary Development Fund. He shared that he has attained his place by persistently devoting himself to his field and leading the company with the goal of achieving great results. Lee added that he hopes his contributions can help expand the school’s competitiveness, so that Kingos could study at better facilities and achieve their goals to grow as future leaders of South Korea. Referring to this, President Yoo presented his gratification by delivering SKKU merchandise, including a varsity jacket and emblem badge. He thanked CEO Lee for his donation during a period of economic difficulty for companies. Yoo pledged to do his best to support Kingos pursuing their dreams in lecture rooms, laboratories, and libraries just as CEO Lee once did as a student in SKKU.
