Not So Little Things
May is a month full of special days, starred with dates dedicated to celebrating those we cherish the most. As the cold fades into a distant memory and daylight begins to linger for just a bit longer every day, this brief, but precious time gives us a moment to pause and look around.
Without such a reminder, it is all too easy to move forward at full speed, blinded by the rush of our own lives — unable to notice the people, experiences, and values that allowed us to grow into who we are today. It is indeed only in their absence, when a steady constant breaks down and crumbles into pieces, that we are forced to confront the fragility and impermanence of the very foundations we rely on.
At the end of the day, it is the littlest of things that we so easily overlook — the family members that call, the friends that show up, and the fundamentals that shape our society — that matter the most. Only in their delicate balance do our mundane lives take on new color and meaning. Here at the Sungkyun Times (SKT), we hope that all of your Mays can be a month full of noticing, appreciating, and upholding all that is dearest to your hearts.
