The world-renowned French musical Notre-Dame de Paris will be performed at the Gyeongju Arts Center from November 27th to 30th, marking the grand f inale of the 2025 KHNP Premier series hosted by Gyeongju City and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP). With the original French cast and orchestra taking the stage, audiences will experience this timeless masterpiece in its purest and most authentic form. Since its premiere in Paris in 1998, Notre-Dame de Paris has captivated more than 15 million theater-goers across over 30 countries. Adapted from Victor Hugo’s classic novel, the production portrays a story of love, desire, and redemption through an immersive blend of music and movement. Following its Korean debut in 2005, the musical has remained one of the country’s most beloved productions. This year’s performance carries special significance as it marks the 20th anniversary of its Korean tour, culminating in Gyeongju City with a truly monumental finale. Performed entirely in a through-sung, rock-opera style, the production features some of its most iconic numbers, including Le Temps des Cathédrales and Danse Mon Esmeralda, all sung in French. The large-scale set, created with a production budget of \8 billion, reimagines the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral through colossal bells, statues, and dynamic stage designs. Combined with choreography that fuses contemporary dance, acrobatics, and breakdancing, the performance promises to deliver a visually stunning and emotionally stirring experience.
