Professor Lee Young-hee Receives the 15th Kyung-Ahm Prize

Lee Young-hee, a Professor of Physics at SKKU, has received the 15th Kyung-Ahm Prize in the field of natural science. This year, the KyungAhm Education & Culture Foundation announced four award recipients with one from each field of humanities and social science, natural science, life science, and engineering. The Kyung-Ahm Foundation was established for public interest through the donation of 100 billion won by the president of Taeyang Group in 2004. The Kyung-Ahm Prize was made to honor the eminent scholars who contributed to the nation’s development and now it is one of the most recognized awards for academic achievements. This year’s winner Lee Young-hee has taught at SKKU since 2001. He created a new field of research on the growth of dual nanostructured materials’ crystals like compound graphene and metal halogen. He also developed the field of nanostructures while investigating the new materials. For all his hard work, he was finally awarded the Kyung-Ahm Prize. A Kyung-Ahm Foundation official said that they selected the winners who not only accomplished great academic achievements in their fields of expertise, but also those who are expected to achieve even more accomplishments in the future. The awards presentation was held in Busan on November 1st and a plaque was awarded to the winners along with 200 million won.
