On March 5th, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) and the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials (KIMM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Natural Sciences Campus (NSC). The MOU is for joint research and specialized course operation in semiconductor equipment, aiming to collaborate and foster specialists in the field. Established in 1976, KIMM is a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT. Ryu Seoghyeon, the president of KIMM, shared, “We are pleased to sign an MOU with SKKU to pioneer the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) semiconductors, and we will contribute to making Korea a global technology superpower through research collaboration.” Other key figures from KIMM, including Oh Jung-seok and Jang Won-seok, attended the ceremony alongside SKKU representatives. President Yoo Ji-beom said, “With this agreement, we will further strengthen collaborative research and talent development to contribute to enhancing Korea’s technological competitiveness.” This partnership is expected to further enhance the country’s position in the global technology industry by driving innovation in semiconductor and training the next generation of experts.
