On April 28th, President Yoo Ji-beom held a conference titled the “Grand Conversation” with the university’s three official press outlets: SKKU Newspaper, SKKU Broadcasting Station (SUBS), and the Sungkyun Times (SKT). It was conducted at the 600th Anniversary Hall on Sungkyunkwan University’s (SKKU) Humanities and Social Sciences Campus (HSSC). This provided an opportunity for the three student organizations to share their thoughts, explore possibilities, and seek new directions for student journalism in the face of changing technology and times. It also demonstrated the university’s commitment to supporting student voices and fostering a more collaborative campus media environment. Suggestions related to equipment and facilities were made by the organizations, along with possible solutions to improve the working environment of student journalists. They also discussed how the student press at SKKU can coexist and evolve alongside the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT. President Yoo emphasized that while it is important to utilize them effectively, it is also essential for student media to pursue innovative ways to stay relevant and impactful in the digital era. Overall, the event served as a meaningful opportunity for open and candid dialogue between President Yoo and the official SKKU press community.
